I’m hesitant to post this article because – full disclosure – it’s about a $43 water bottle.
But despite a big part of me screaming ‘find something people will find valuable to write about!’, I actually believe that beautiful products add to an individual’s enjoyment of life through their pleasing aesthetics and design. You might disagree with me but everybody’s got their something, right? So you’re going to see a few more of these articles on the blog in the future. A great way to start is with BKR water bottles.
These minimalist bottles are designed by two ex-lawyers based in San Francisco who make a big deal out of how ‘beauty will save the world’, according to their website. I probably disagree with this notion and what exactly naked models clutching bottles has to do with hydration I couldn’t tell you (see their site for those pics), but I like the enthusiasm.
Part of the ethos behind the brand is the idea of splitting our day into eight hours of sleep, eight hours of work, eight hours of fun, with eight glasses of water – then, as BKR recommends – rinse and repeat. This idea seems to be catching on three years after the brand has launched with various celebs spotted sporting BKR bottles including Charlize Theron, Blake Lively, Brandon Boyd, Rick Bayless and Gisele Bundchen.
Two colour palettes are released yearly with art direction done by co-founder Tal Winter, inspired by the latest fashion trends. But beyond all of the fancy shmancy hoo-ha, is the truth that it’s important to stay hydrated, and what better way to do that and remind yourself to do that than with something that you feel good holding.
BKR bottles are available in 500ml ($30) and 1L ($43) capacities in seasonal colours.
